This Return and Refund Policy explains how returns, exchanges, and refunds are handled for purchases made through our online store. It is written to comply with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, and applicable New Zealand e-commerce regulations. Nothing in this Policy limits your rights under New Zealand law.


1. Who and what this Policy covers

This Policy applies to purchases made directly from www.cityboy.co.nz by customers located in New Zealand. We do not currently accept international orders.
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) apply in addition to the discretionary change-of-mind returns we describe below.


2. Change-of-mind returns window

We offer a 30 day change-of-mind return period from the date you receive your item.
To be eligible under this discretionary policy, all of the following conditions must be met.

  • The product must be in the same condition you received it, unworn, unused, unwashed, and undamaged.

  • All original tags, labels, hygiene stickers, and original packaging must be intact and included.

  • You must provide your receipt or proof of purchase.

  • Items that show any signs of use, sweat, odour, stains, wear, training marks, or removed tags will not be accepted.

  • For hygiene and safety reasons, items such as mouthguards and similar personal items are non-returnable unless they are faulty under the CGA.

Cityboy Fightwear reserves the right to refuse a return that does not meet these conditions.


3. Products not eligible for change-of-mind returns

  • Used, worn, or washed items of any kind.

  • Limited-edition drops and pre-order releases, except for faulty goods.

  • Customised or personalised products.

  • Final sale or gift cards.

  • Hygiene-sensitive items as noted above.

These items may still be eligible for a CGA remedy if they are faulty, not of acceptable quality, not fit for purpose, or do not match their description.


4. Faulty, damaged, or incorrect items

Please inspect your order upon delivery and contact us as soon as possible and within a reasonable timeframe if an item is faulty, damaged, or incorrect.
Email support@cityboy.co.nz with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photos or video showing the fault or damage.

If a product fails to meet the guarantees under the CGA, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund depending on the nature of the problem. We will advise the appropriate remedy and next steps once we assess the issue.


5. How to start a return

  1. Email support@cityboy.co.nz to request a return authorisation.

  2. Include your order number, full name, contact details, and reason for return.

  3. Attach photo evidence where helpful.

  4. If your return is accepted, we will send you instructions on how and where to send your package.

  5. Returns must be sent to the address we provide. Please do not send items back without a return authorisation.

Return address: we will supply the correct New Zealand return address by email when your return request is approved.


6. Who pays for return shipping

  • Change-of-mind: You are responsible for return shipping costs. We recommend using a tracked service.

  • Faulty or incorrect item: We will provide a prepaid label or reimburse reasonable return shipping costs, once the fault is confirmed.

Risk of loss or damage in transit for returns remains with you until the parcel is received and checked by Cityboy Fightwear. Please retain your tracking receipt.


7. Exchanges

If you want a different size or product, the fastest method is to return the item according to this Policy. Once your return is accepted, you may place a new order for the replacement item.
Where stock allows, we may offer a direct like-for-like replacement for faulty items under the CGA.


8. Processing your refund

  • We will notify you when your return is received and inspected.

  • If approved, refunds are issued to your original payment method.

  • Please allow 5 to 10 business days for us to process your refund after approval. Your bank or card provider may take additional time to post the funds.

  • Original shipping fees are non-refundable for change-of-mind returns. Where a product is faulty under the CGA, we will refund the original shipping fee where appropriate.

  • If more than 15 business days have passed since your refund was approved, contact support@cityboy.co.nz.


9. Pre-orders and limited-edition drops

Pre-orders and limited-edition products are special releases.

  • For change-of-mind, these are not eligible for return unless the product is in perfect, unused condition and we have expressly allowed it on the product page.

  • Faulty or misdescribed pre-order items remain fully protected by the CGA.


10. Proof of purchase and assessment

We require a receipt or order confirmation for all returns. Cityboy Fightwear may reasonably request additional information to assess eligibility, including photos or videos. Items that do not pass inspection will be returned to you at your cost.


11. Misuse, unauthorised wear, and fair use

Combat sports products are subject to intense use. Damage caused by misuse, improper care, unauthorised modifications, or normal wear and tear is not a defect under the CGA and is not eligible for refund. We may limit or refuse returns where we detect abuse of the returns process.


12. Your legal rights

Your rights and remedies under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986 apply in addition to this Policy. If a product is faulty, not of acceptable quality, not fit for purpose, or does not match its description, you may be entitled to a remedy regardless of our discretionary policies.

We sell to New Zealand customers. European Union cooling-off rules do not apply to orders placed on our New Zealand website for delivery within New Zealand.


13. Dispute resolution and governing law

We aim to resolve issues quickly and fairly. Please contact support@cityboy.co.nz first so we can help.
This Policy is governed by the laws of New Zealand. If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, it will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
